Far giustizia al linguaggio per aprirlo all’essere. In occasione del 50º della pubblicazione di "Verità e metodo"

Juan Gabriel Ascencio

Abstract

The article recalls briefly the historical context in which Hans-Georg Gadamer wrote Truth and Method fifty years ago. The centrality of language appears as a key element for its philosophical appraisal, and the article explains how was language introduced by Gadamer both in the field of the "object" and of the "subject". Finally, a question is raised regarding Truth and Method  from the viewpoint of a nowadays reader grounded in the thomistic tradition: can an analogy be traced between the hermeneutical Sache and the thomistic res - ens? Hints at a possible answer are put forward in the close of the article.
